I’m not really sure what to do to combat that, except to realize that it’s very rare to come up with an idea that someone else hasn’t already come up with. I think that maybe unique overall ideas may be hard to come up with, but that it’s easier to come up with small changes to an idea that lots of people have done already.

Staticmethod : I need to write software

chris talks about his struggles with fresh ideas in relation to open source software dev.  lots of what he talks about are issues i’m sure most of us (including myself) deal with on a day-to-day basis.

what will make something unique?  what will make something different and useful?  i’ve realized, as chris does if you read some of his later posts, that if you have great ideas, are driven to create…then just do it for yourself.  the “journey” will lead you to what something is “supposed” to be.
